One Column Two Column or Three Column Layout
Content Layout and Flow
The options you want and the options that are available to you by your WordPress Theme will allow you to present your information and navigation in a variety of ways depend on your style and preferences.
When you are reviewing your Theme check to see what options it offers regarding columns. Some are limited while others will allow you to specify on a per page or post level.
It is always helpful to have the option of doing a single, double or triple column layout so as your website grows you are not limited by the theme.
It is important to understand how each of these options reacts if you are utilizing a responsive design. Typically when a website is viewed on a phone or device it will organize the content from the top left corner so your content will flow accordingly, your left column will be on top followed by the second and then by the third. This will defiantly influence how you layout your pages and how the appear from one device to the next so be sure to test your pages on as many devices as you can.
Finding the right Theme that allows you to be creative in your layout is a big plus and will make your website more attractive. We have all seen websites that page for page and section for section have the same look and layout which can be very boring. The more Themes you review the more you will see how much they can vary from one to the next.
Now that you know how important the Columns are for your WordPress website what’s next?
