WordPress Theme Bells and Whistles
Look at all the Features this WordPress Theme Has
Each Theme in WordPress will have at least one section on the Dashboard that will allow you to make basic settings. Some Themes will have more elaborate Control Panel to control the Functions that are included in the Theme. This may look cool and really great however you may want to pass on these for a few reasons.
One thing you need to remember if you are using WordPress is that it is updated very frequently and so are the Plugins you use and from time to time you may have to update your Theme.
A Theme that has a lot of functions built in may not be the way to go. Some developers will hard code plugins into the Theme to make it easier for users. This is a bad practice and creates dependency on the developer you bought the Theme from and now you are at their mercy when it comes to updates and cost. You will now need to subscribe to their service to access any future updates which can be a added pain.
By hard coding a plugin into a Theme bypasses the update notifications you get by installing the Plugin normally. This can also cause problems. Plugins such editors, sliders, galleries, social networking and SEO are just some of the things your really don’t want to be part of your Theme. Best to keep things separate so that if you ever change your Theme you won’t loss and content you have already enter in to WordPress.
Until you are able to create your own Theme or customize one or have one built for you, it is best you really be selective when you are selecting you first WordPress Theme.
Now that you know how important the Theme is for your WordPress what’s next?
