WordPress Appearance Menus
Accessing the Appearance Menus Screen in WordPress
Once you have created your pages and have set up your blog you can now start to work on your menus and navigation for your WordPress Website.
Looking at the Appearance Menus Screen for the first time you want to review all the options you have. These option will vary from theme to theme so check them out and see what options you have.
Start by creating a new menu.
Here are the most common options.
Pages – Add one of your pages to the selected menu.
Post – Add one of your post to the selected menu.
Link – Add a custom link to the selected menu.
Categories – Add a link to one of your categories to the selected menu.
Tags – Add a link to one of your tags to the selected menu.
Select any one of them and click Add to Menu button. Your selection should now be visible in the right hand panel. From there you can rename the items as well as rearrange the order of the items by simply drag and drop.
At the bottom of right hand panel there should be some options regarding Theme Locations. Each WordPress Theme has at least one menu location so select which menus go where and preview them on your website until you are happy with the layout and look.
If your theme is limited with the number of locations you create additional menus and use Widgets to place additional menus on your website and blog.
Now that you have logged in to your WordPress site and reviewed the Appearance Menus Screen what do you do next?
