It’s now time to create a New Page on your WordPress Website so lets get started, click on the Add New tab under Pages.
The first time you see the Add New Page Screen you are going to want to look it over from top to bottom. From the top right of the screen click Screen Options and make sure all the options are checked so you can see what you have to work with in the way of options. These options will vary depending on the WordPress Theme you are using but be sure to take a look just so you know what options are available to you.
Most if not all WordPress site have Title Area, Page Editor, Custom Fields, Discussion, Slug, Author, Revisions and Publish Options. Your theme may have other but these are the most common.
Title Area – Enter the title of your new page.
Page Editor – This is where you place the actual content of your page. There is a basic WYSIWYG editor or a Text area for straight code depending on how you would like to create your page.
Custom Fields – Not something you will likely use until you have some experience using WordPress.
Discussion – Check this box if you would like to enable Comments for this page.
Slug – This is the actual text of the link for the page you are creating and is created automatically when you Publish the page.
Author – The author of the page.
Revisions – This is actually very cool, WordPress will save a revision history of each page so if you some how screw up the page you can go back to a prior version and start again.
Publish Options – You can Save as a Draft or you can Publish the page.
Look over the screen and get comfortable with the tools you have and you should be able to Publish your first Page fairly quickly and easily.
