Accessing the Permalink Settings Screen in WordPress
Making changes on Permalink Settings Screen should be thought through. Once you make these settings you should not change them unless you have reason to do so.

Here are the options you have :
- Day and Name
- Month and Name
- Post Name
- Custom Structure
Permalinks are the actual links to your Pages and Post on your WordPress Website. Changing these settings will redefine all the links to your website.
The Optional settings are for your Category Base and your Tag Base. These settings are also global and once you set them you should not change them unless there is reason for doing so.
