WordPress Plugins Installed Plugins
Accessing the Installed Plugins Screen in WordPress
Plugins are used to add additional functionality to WordPress and in most cases are free and easy to setup.
WordPress is what is commonly referred to as Open Source Software. OS software is supported by a community of developers and designers world wide. As such they publish blocks of code that work within WordPress. These extensions range from simple features such as a Widget to a full functioning E-commerce solution.
Like anything else you want to keep things as simple as possible and avoid loading an excess of Plugins into your WordPress Website. The more you add the slower your site may become and from time to time they may conflict with each other so be sure to test them out first before you install them on a live site.
The Installed Plugins Screen is where you go to manage and update the plugins you have installed and yes there will be updates on a regular basis. It is important to keep your installed plugins up to date so that your website works and is secure.
I do not recommend using auto update because from time to time the updates can cause problems.
The developers of WordPress are constantly perfecting their code and plugin developers do their best to keep up and make things continue to work and keep secure.
Most of the Plugins you will see on this screen will have links and information about the individual plugin that will help you learn more about each one and in most cases provide links to help you setup and configure them.
Never install a Plugin from a questionable website. If you want to install a plugin use the Add New from the Dashboard.
Now that you have logged in to your WordPress site and reviewed the Installed Plugins Screen what do you do next?
