Category Name – Make them as clear as possible.
Category Slug – The slug is the url or link that will be used for the category.
Category Parent – This is what can be used to create Sub-Categories.
Category Description – The description is not prominent by default; however, some themes may show it. Having a WordPress Theme that has this function enable is really useful. So many do not have this enabled.
Try to keep the number of categories you create manageable and stay on topic. Avoid generalization and redundancy as much as possible. Even thou a single post can be cross link to multiple categories this practice is better avoided and dilutes your content.
