WordPress Users Add New User
Accessing the Add New User Screen in WordPress
Depending on how you have configured or plan to use your WordPress Website you can add additional users or you can allow users to join or subscribe to your Blog. This can be done fairly easily but you really want to think it through and monitor any activity just to make sure no one is adding unsuitable content on your Blog / Website.
If you are going to allow visitors to join your website with a sign up form you are really going to want to verify and approve them before you allow them to post content and comments to your Blog.
If you have a support staff or others that you know and would like to have them contribute to your website, it would be best for you to setup the accounts for them. To do this you go to the Add New User Screen and fill out the account information.
To add a new user go to the Add New User screen and enter in the Username, E-mail, First Name, Last Name, Website (if any), Password and Repeat Password. The Strength Indicator will give you some help on creating a strong password. Once you have finished entering the information you can Send Password to the new user by email.
The next a final selection is the Role of the new user. The default Role is Subscriber. Users can be assigned various roles depending on what access you want to grant to each user.
Summary of Roles
Administrator – somebody who has access to all the administration features within a single site.
Editor – somebody who can publish and manage posts including the posts of other users.
Author – somebody who can publish and manage their own posts.
Contributor – somebody who can write and manage their own posts but cannot publish them.
Subscriber – somebody who can only manage their profile.
Now that you have logged in to your WordPress site and Added a New User what do you do next?
